Trail description
The descent from Schiazzera is part of the Five Crazy Downs - a series of five MTB descents around Tirano.
This descent is recommended for more experienced bikers, given that it has significant slopes and exposed hairpin bends.
The departure of the Schiazzera freeride route is from Lovero (a few kilometers from Tirano towards Bormio). By pedaling or with the bike shuttle you reach Vervio from where a long and demanding climb begins on an asphalt road, with the last three kilometers on a dirt road (from Tirano there are 25 km with a 1500m difference in altitude).
To add the Rifugio Shiazzera you have to push the bike for the last few meters up a very steep path. From the refuge, pedal for another 200 m in altitude to reach the start of the descent.
The descent path is smooth and alternates repeatedly with dirt roads and mule tracks. It's not too difficult but very long, fun and takes you to the bottom of the valley in Tirano
