The Val Mora Pass is a historic passage, which in the past guaranteed the connection of the Alta Valtellina with the countries across the Alps in northern Europe.
The path that from the Val di Fraele reached the Val Monastero across the Val Mora Pass, it was used for the trade of wine to Austria and to bring loads of rock salt back to Bormio.
The route starts from Bormio and heads towards the town of Premadio, from where the road that leads to the Fraele Towers starts, through a series of hairpin bends with regular slopes.
It is then enough to skirt the artificial basins of Cancano and S. Giacomo up to the Fraele pass to have at your fingertips the Val Mora pass, on the Swiss border.
