Trail description

One of the most spectacular routes in the entire Altarezia area: a marvel of nature for the most demanding and capable bikers.

It starts from Santa Caterina Valfurva and on asphalt you go up to the rifugio dei Forni. Follow the signs for the Pizzini Hut via a dirt road.

Halfway between the two huts, there is a detour on the right which takes you back to a path that goes back, on the opposite side of Val Cedec.

You face several ups and downs on a single trail with an enchanting panorama that looks towards the Forni glacier. You arrive at the Rifugio Branca, an excellent stop for a refreshing break.

You then go down to the small lake located just below the refuge and then take the middle path, among the three they head for the glacier. Here the track becomes demanding and on several stretches the only option is to carry the bicycle on your shoulder.

On the top you go downhill and you find yourself in front of the first of the two Tibetan bridges that must be crossed. A peculiarity that makes the entire route very fun and unique.

You can get very close to the glacier and you are advised to be very careful as holes and crevasses are abundant.

After a another small stretch where you can take your bike, you find yourself facing the endless descent, sometimes very technical, which leads to Santa Caterina. Almost all of the path is clearly visible and easy to pedal, except for a stretch to look for among the rocks and not too obvious signs (near the detour to return to the Rifugio dei Forni).

Attention after the Agriturismo Baita Tresero, the path becomes very narrow and very exposed. It is possible to use the road that takes cars to the farm as a simple alternative to return to Santa Caterina.
